View of the bottom of one of the shallow wadis (valleys) in the Haluqim area.
Just right of center note the wall of stones. This is one of several dams that have been placed across the wadi to trap and collect not only water, but also topsoil. In the area behind the dam grain crops and trees were planted. Note to just left of center a tree growing. On the horizon is a stone covered hill. Water and topsoil from this hill, among others, is diverted and concentrated into this wadi and collects behind these dams.
This type of “technology” is still used in some of the southern areas of Israel.
