View of the main sanctuary of Ostia, the Capitolium. It is located on the west side of the Forum. It was dedicated to the main Roman deities, namely the capitoline triad of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. It was constructed during the days of Hadrian (r. A.D. 117–138).
A broad monumental staircase leads up to the temple. Note the filled in arches on the south wall and the indications of an upper storey on the top of it.
