View of the western entrance to the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George at Madaba. This active church is built over the site of earlier churches, including one from the Byzantine period that had a mosaic floor that featured a map of the Holy Land as it was known in the sixth century. The floor was probably laid during the rule of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian (A.D. 527–565).
