Jordan & Jericho Labeled

Above (east) of center, on the east bank of the Jordan River, is Ainon where John was baptizing.  In recent years the Jordanians have found and have been excavating this site.

Left (north) of center is a red roofed church that has an exterior wall with twelve white stones embedded in a wall (= Gilgal commemorating Joshua’s crossing of the Jordan River—Joshua 3–4).

Just below center is a walled city with four towers and two gates and that is surrounded by nine palm trees (= Jericho).  The red roofed buildings inside the city are churches.  For a detail of Jericho Click Here.

The threshing floor of Atath (= Atad) is associated with the mourning for Jacob as described in Genesis 50:10–11.
