View looking south at two of the three prominent bays on the northwest coast of Malta. On the right is Saint Paul's Bay and on the left is the smaller Salina Bay.
Saint Paul's Bay is the bay that has been suggested by many to be the bay where the ship that the Apostle Paul was on ran aground (Acts 27:6–28:1). Some have suggested that Paul's ship ran aground on these islands
It was a major harbor in the Roman Period (= NT era) and remains of a Roman road and baths have been found in the area—in Xemxija, the area with all of the modern buildings on the far side of the bay.
