View looking southeast from Fort Saint Elmo at Fort Ricasoli—upper portion of the image. This fort was built by the Order of Saint John between 1670 and 1698. It guards the entrance to the Grand Harbor—on the right side of the image. Note the small light house at the entrance of the harbor.
In the foreground are the modern defenses of Fort Saint Elmo.
