This statue of the Three Graces of Greek mythology. The head was found in 1981 and the three bodies (in pieces) were found in the south bath in 1982. The group is about 5ft. 10in high and was carved from a fine-grained white marble. The grouping dates to the second century AD. The supports of the two end pieces are shaped like vases.
These goddesses gave happiness to the world and to the hearts of men. Their number and names varied, but the most common number is three and they were called Brilliance (Aglaia), Joy (Euphrosyne), and Bloom (Thalia).
