To the south of Antakya (Antioch) is the resort city of Harbiye. In Roman times it was called "Daphne" and it is famous for its powerful springs, waterfalls, and greenery. In Roman times there was a temple of Apollo there—Apollo tried to seduce the beautiful Daphne but she turned herself into a laurel plant!
Wealthy Romans built houses near the temple and enjoyed vacationing in the region. There is a tradition that Anthony and Cleopatra were married here. Many hotels, restaurants, and houses have been built in the area, and many beautiful mosaic floors were discovered. They are now on display in the Archaeological Museum and Antakya.
