View looking north at the main entrance to the Temple of Augustus. On the left of the temple is the minaret of the Haci Bayram mosque.
The two walls that project out are called the “ante” and on the interior of these projecting walls the “Res Gestae” is inscribed in Latin. The Greek text of this document is inscribed on the exterior walls of the temple.
The temple itself measured 42 x 92 ft. [13 x 28 m.] and in the second century A.D. it was surrounded by a colonnade—note the column fragments in the foreground.
