Hittite Gods Labeled

View looking north at the main scene carved in the rock of Chamber A at Yazilikaya in Turkey.  The scene portrays the meeting of Teshub (weather god) and Hebat (sun goddess) that are facing each other.

Behind Hebat is Sharruma, who is a descendant of Teshub and Hebat.  Behind Sharruma are Alanzu and another female deity (granddaughters of Teshub).  These two, in pleated skirts, stand on a double–headed eagle.

Hebat (sun goddess, wife of Teshub) stands upon a striding lion.

Sharruma is the only male on the right (east side of the image).  He is an offspring of Teshub and Hebat.  For a more detailed view of Sharruma (from Chamber B) Click Here.
 
Teshub (male weather god) is visible on the left (west) side of the image.  His right arm is extended forward, and he carries a mace in his left hand.  He has a conical hat.

Alanzu (another weather god of Hati) is faintly visible on the left (west) side of the image.
