View looking north at the almost square Hittite Monument that "caps" the spring.
The Hittite Monument is composed of 19 large stone blocks that measures 23.3 x 23 ft. (7.1 x 7 m.). At the base are five mountain gods. Above them are 10 spirits of hybrid creatures supporting two two-winged sun disks that in turn support a huge winged sun disk at the top!
This monument has been dated (stylistically) to the second half of the 13th century B.C.—to the reign of the Hittite king Tudhaliya IV.
Note the flow of the spring water on the right (east) side of the monument.
