View of the inscribed wall of the (restored) Macellum (food/meat market) at Aizanoi.
The walls of this structure were inscribed in Greek with the price controls issued by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in A.D. 301—to fight inflation (they failed)! In this edict the prices of all articles of trade offered at the markets of the Roman Empire were regulated.
It was built in the second century A.D.
Details of the Greek inscription are visible if you look at an image downloaded at "Max Size Available."
