Middle Nymphaeum 2

This is a view of the "Middle Nymphaeum" at Sagalassos.  I have called it that for it sits on the south-facing slope that descends from the Upper to the Lower City.  At its base (lower right) is a major east-west street of Sagalassos.  Behind this structure (upper left, not visible) is the Odeum and this Nymphaeum serves as the southern outer wall of the Nymphaeum.  It was built during the second half of the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian (r. A.D. 117–138).

This Nymphaeum is between numbers 14 and 5 on the Plan of the Lower City—but does not have its own number.
