View looking south at a semi-circular structure that is located on the south side of the Roman Agora/Forum. It had two functions. First, it served as the terminus and distributor of the water of one of the aqueducts that brought water to Ephesus in A.D. 92. It also served as a monumental fountain (nymphaeum). It was enlarged in the second century A.D. and renovated around A.D. 340.
