Columns

View looking northwest near the entrance to the Temple of Apollo. The columns are Ionic in style, note for example the bases. Their circumference is such that it takes four adults, with outstretched arms, touching finger tip to finger tip, to reach around each column.  Originally, the columns were 64 ft. [19.5 m.] high!  The highest of any known temple of the ancient world.
