Philip's tomb is built out of hewn stone and has a gabled roof.
It appears that at one time it was covered with plaster (frescos?) and maybe marble.
Notice, on the right side of the image, below the dog, a stone sarcophagus. The stone work around the tomb, smaller stones and fired brick, is typical of the Byzantine Period.
