View looking southwest, at the remnants of the Ionic Portico that enclosed three sides of the Plutonium.
The columns on the left side of the picture outline the inner boundary of the portico, while the low wall of hewn stones that runs from the bottom of the photo to the left edge supported the outer columns of this structure.
The portico was built during the reign of Nero (r. A.D. 54–68).
In the center of the image, the rear portion of the copy of the statue of Pluto is visible. The Plutonium itself lies beyond and below this statue.
