View of some of the auxiliary structures located to the north of the Blue Mosque. Often times the larger mosques would actually be a complex of buildings that would supply “social services” to the faithful: caravanserai for travelers, kitchens for the poor, hospitals for the sick, “colleges” for education in the faith, and grave yards.
Note the small domes over the various rooms and the three chimneys that rise from the interior stoves.
