View of the northwest corner of the northern stoa. The stoa was 367 ft. [112 m.] long and 40 ft. [12.42 m.] wide. The back wall was built of hewn stone (andesite) against the quarried mountain. The stoa actually had two floors. Note openings on the top of this wall—this is where beams were anchored in the wall for the second floor to be built about it. The beams in turn rested on the columns.
