Divine Hadrian Statue

View of a statue of the Roman Emperor Hadrian that was found in the Library of the Asclepion—also called "the Emperor's room" (Akurgal, p. 109).  Because Hadrian is in the nude, he is portrayed as "the divine one."

Hadrian visited Pergamum in AD 124 and possibly in 129 as well.  A noble woman, Flavia Melitine, dedicated the Library and erected this statue of Hadrian.

This statue is on display in the Bergama Museum, Turkey.
