View looking down from the top of the Small Theater that dates to the Roman period. The seats of the semi-circular Cavea have been recently excavated and partially restored. Just to the right of the center of the image, where there are two columns, was the "elite seating." About 8,000 people could sit in the theater.
The semi-circular orchestra has also been excavated, as has the foundation of the skene.
It was built in the second century B.C. (the Hellenistic Period) and was used until an earthquake destroyed it in the seventh century A.D.
