View looking northeast at the Central Harbor of Phaselis. Phaselis had three harbors, and this, the Central one was the smallest of the three. The breakwaters to the north (on the left) and the tip of the one on the east (on the right) side of the image are clearly visible as is a line of stones (lower right) the formed part of the southern mole of this harbor. This harbor was used for small and medium–sized ships. This may have served as the harbor for smaller military boats.
The 16.5 yard [18 m.] wide entrance to the harbor is visible just right of the center of the image. This could be closed in times of danger by a sturdy chain.
The promontory on the left horizon (north) that projects out into the sea is actually the northern boundary of the larger North Harbor of Phaselis.
