View looking south at the west end of the west Forum. A number of Temples were located here at the west end of the West part of the Forum. On the right (west) the grey stonewall with the two arches is part of the Tabularium—the archive building of ancient Rome. Behind it, to the right (not visible), is where the Capitoline Hill was/is located.
On the left are the 8 columns of the Temple of Saturn. The three columns standing in the center of the image are the remnants of the Temple of Vespasian and Titus. On this side of the that temple is where the Temple of Concord was located. Beyond the Temple of Vespasian and Titus are the 12 columns of the Portico of the Dii Consentes.
The road between the Temple of Saturn and the Temple of Vespasian and Titus leads to the top of the Capitoline Hill that rises to the right (west). Some of the original paving stones are visible in the image. The road was called the Clivus Capitolinus. Triumphal Processions, after passing though the Forum (on the left) would climax by following this road up the hill for sacrifices at the Temple of Capitoline Jupiter.
