Interior

View looking down at the interior of the south theater at Gerasa.  The semi–circular orchestra is clearly visible and beyond it the stage area and the stage backdrop (the scaene frons)  The stage floor was originally made of wood.  Note the three entrance doors in the scaena.  Originally the skene was two stories high.

On the right (east) of the stage two openings are visible.  The theater could seat about 3,000 people
