Libation Niche

Libation Niche

View of the indented libation niche that is just south of the south entrance to the temple.

This niche contains the relief of a man wearing a toga.  At the bottom of the image his feet are noticeable.  The figure holds a wreath in his right hand (on the left side of the image).  In his left hand (on the right side of the image) a long staff is visible.

This niche may have been used for the pouring libations of wine, oil, or the blood of a sacrificed animal.
