HL Near Route 2

A view of the "High Level" aqueduct that is located just to the east of Route 2—2.5 mi. north northeast of Caesarea.  Water was flowing from the right (east) to left (west)—from the Shuni Spring to Caesarea.  Note the series of arches that provide support to the aqueduct.

To the left, (west) of this area, the High-Level aqueduct enters a 1,450 ft. long rock-cut tunnel through the kurkar ridge that the city of Jisr ez-Zarq is built—before turning south toward Caesarea.

The western slope of Mount Carmel is visible beyond the aqueduct—in the distance.
