Gihon Spring

Gihon Spring

View where the spring enters the tunnel complex under the Old Ancient Core (= City of David) of Jerusalem. The water flows towards the viewer from under the modern platform on which a student is standing.

Gihon means "gusher" which may reflect the fact that it increases its flow on an irregular basis. It yields between 10,000 to 25,000 gallons [40 to 100 cu. m.] of water per day.
