Sorek Valley 2

Sorek Valley 2

View from the top of Beth Shemesh looking northwest at the Sorek Valley and the ridge to the north of the valley.   This image was taken in the late spring when typically wheat is ready to be harvested.  Note the trees that cover the Eocene ridge to the north of the valley.

Timnah, from which Samson married a woman (Judges 14:1–3) is located in the Sorek.  The valley was known for grapes (Judges 14:5; 15:5, olives (Judges 15:5), wheat (Judges 15:1; 1 Sam 13:13), lions (Judges 14), and foxes (Judges 15:4-5)!
