Colonnaded Street

Colonnaded Street

View to the south southwest looking down on the remains of the colonnaded street that dates to the reign of the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (ca. AD 200).

Originally there were 600 or so columns along the 0.5 mi. [800 m.] long street.  The columns supported a roofed portico that covered walkways and shops.

In the distance, notice the Hill Country of Samaria.
