View looking southwest at the northeastern corner of the Palatine Hill from the Colosseum. On the right (west) side of the image, the columns mark the southern edge of the platform of the Temple of Venus and Roma. The path of the Via Sacra that leads to the Arch of Titus and the Roman Forum is between the columns and the rock scarp.
The rock scarp behind the columns marks the rise of the Palatine Hill and here in the northeast section are several "modern" religious structures: S. Sebastinao and S. Bonaventura.
