South Agora

South Agora

View looking northwest at the large "South Agora."   Running down the center of the Agora is a very large pool, measuring 850 x 82 feet.  It is about 4 feet deep and was surrounded by porticos.

It was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Tiberius (AD 14–37).  To the west of it are the baths of Hadrian and to the north of it the North Agora and then the Odeum and the Temple of Aphrodite.
