Temple–Tomb Construction

Temple–Tomb Construction

A image looking south at the north exterior wall of the pseudoperipteral Temple–Tomb at Patara.  In the based notice the tops of two square openings that lead to underground chambers.

On top of the platform is the Temple–Tomb.  Notice the columns that are attached to the Temple–Tomb wall that stands on plinths (indicating a Late Roman construction).  The wall of the Temple–Tomb was constructed of three parts: outer and inner courses of dressed stones with a stone rubble fill between them (visible in the image).
