Entrance to Acropolis

Entrance to Acropolis

View looking west at the road that leads into the acropolis from the southeast. The tower on the right (east) was built in the Hellenistic Period – in the third century B.C. Note the fine fitting stones of local andesite. Compare the building of the Hellenistic walls and towers of Assos.

As one walks up this path, the area of the Temple of Athena becomes visible on the left – Click Here to view.
