Wool-Workers' Inscription

A Greek inscription on the base of a pedestal that supported a statue of Alexander.  Alexander was a well-known benefactor of the city of Thyatira as this inscription, and others, show.  It dates to the early third century A.D.

"C. Perelius Aurlius Alexander, the outstanding and foremost member of the eternal and immoral athletes of the world-wide competitions of the Pythian Augusteian games and the anointed ambassador.  The wool-workers (ΟΙ ΛΑΝΑΡΙΟΙ) set this up in his honor when Aurelius Moschiano son of Ammianos was supervisor."  (Borges p.  18)
