Synagogue Entrance

View of the staircase that leads up from the street — note the drain in the center of the street — into the synagogue.  The synagogue is located along a street that descends in a westward direction from the Agora.  It is located southwest of the Temple of Athena.

The room of this building that served as a synagogue measures 46 x 33 ft. [14 x 10 m.] and it has an “ark” in the wall facing Jerusalem.

The structure evidently dates to the Late Roman Period.
