Head of Medusa

This head of Medusa was an architectural fragment from the Temple of Apollo. It is approximately 3 ft. [0.9 m.] high.

Medusa, also called Gorgo, was a monster in Greek mythology. She had snakes instead of hair. Her head was a popular apotropaic symbol — used to ward off evil.
