Exterior

 View looking southeast at the north and west sides of the Temple of Zeus. The temple stood on a platform (stylobate) that measured 47 x 88 ft. [14.4 x 26.8 m.]. The temple building (cella) was completely surrounded by columns (peripteral).

Right of center of the image 5 of the 6 original columns are still standing. This is the west, or rear, of the structure. For important details of these columns Click Here.

To the left of center are 8 of the original 11 columns that graced the north wall of the portico. Note that large portions of the architrave are still in place on top of the columns. The stairs in the lower left portion of the image are a modern addition.
