View looking down and northwest at the Augustus Temple complex. The temple was built upon the foundations located in the center/lower right quadrant of the image. Portions of this podium were built out of living (bed) rock and still stand to a height of 8 ft. [2.5 m.] — note the size of the students standing on it, just right of the center of the image.
This temple was set in a semi–circular area, the outline of which can be seen on the left side of the image. It was approached via a monumental gate that had been built by the Roman Emperor Tiberius (A.D. 14–37).
