View of the interior of the (rebuilt) western Hellenistic Gate Tower.  Notice the "loopholes" for shooting arrows at the oncoming enemy.   

The Towers were built in the third century B.C. and were standing when Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark visited the city about A.D. 46.
