Macellum/Market Place

View of the (restored) Macellum (food/meat market) that was located south of the Zeus Temple.

The walls of this structure were inscribed with the price controls issued by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in A.D. 301—to fight inflation (they failed)!

It was built in the second century A.D.
