Krater on Pedestal (2)

View of a terracotta fragment from a sema (edge of a roof) found at Nema.

In the center is a vessel called a “krater” that was use for wine.  The two nude figures on either side of it are “satyrs” — mythological creatures that were half human and half goat — note their “tails.”  Satyrs were attendants of Dionysus (Bacchus) the god of wine and merriment.
