View looking east down into the area of the Peirene Fountain area. This water complex was the major source of water for Corinth. On the right of the image six arched openings are visible. Behind them is the area where water, transported from outside the city, was collected.
In front of them a corner of a rectangular pool is visible. This had been lined with marble. The two standing columns in the center of the image are the remnants of what had been a portico that surrounded the pool.
In the upper left quadrant of the image a niche in the wall is visible. This probably contained a statue in antiquity. This semi circular area was called an "exedra" and was a place where people would meet for conversation.
