Urn Box for Ashes

Urn Box for Ashes

View of a box that probably contained the ashes of the cremated person and a golden wreath above it. This type of box is called a larynx. Date: probably around 300 B.C.

Several such boxes called larynxes were found in the tomb of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great—but they don't allow photographs in that museum!#@!
