Libation Cup

Libation Cup

View of a two–handle white libation or drinking cup called a kylix..  The image in the middle is that of the god Apollo, wearing a laurel wreath, pouring out a libation while holding his kithara.  His bird, the raven, looks  on.

Note the construction of the chair that he is sitting on.

The kylix is dated to 480–470 B.C.
