Tholos

Tholos

View looking north at one of the most famous buildings at Delphi — the “Tholos.”  Three steps led up to the building and it was surrounded by a peristyle of twenty Doric columns—three of them, and a section of the frieze have been restored.

In the lower left side of the image the rectangular–shaped foundations of the Massalian Treasury are visible. This building, and its ancient contents, was donated by the city of Massalia, modern Marseilles in the sixth century B.C.
