Apollo and Marsyas

Apollo and Marsyas

View of the lower right panel of the main mosaic in the House of Aion.

It depicts Apollo (right side with the lyre) who had bested Marsyas (on the left, in an off the shoulder leopard skin) in a contest.  Marsyas’ flute is at the foot of Apollo and Marsyas is being led off for execution by Phrygian soldiers (note their caps).
