The trunk of a good size olive tree is visible on the right side of the image – growing at an angle. The top of this tree was actually cut off, just above where the top of the picture is.

The important point here is that in spite of the tree being cut down, new shoots are growing out of the bottom of the tree. The tree is still alive, and these shoots can eventually trimmed and rooted so as to produce additional trees. Isaiah 11:1-4 is especially instructive in this regard.

This tree is on the grounds of Neot Kedummim – the biblical garden located on the coastal plain between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in Israel.
