Odeion of Herodes Atticus

Odeion of Herodes Atticus

The Odeion is located on the western section of the southern slope of the acropolis.  A wealthy Athenian, Herodes Atticus, built it in honor of his deceased wife Regilla who died in A.D. 160.

It was covered with a cedar roof and could seat between 5,000 and 6,000 persons.
