View looking northeast over the town of Alashehir, ancient Philadelphia, from the acropolis that is located to the south of the town.
The soil in the flat plain area is excellent for growing grapes. Through this plain, from east to west (right to left), ran a major route that terminated at Smyrna (Izmir) 80 mi. [127 km] to the west (left).
