View looking north at hills of the wilderness of Judah and Benjamin northwest of Jericho.

On the left (west) side of the image, in the shade, the bedding of hard Cenomanian Limestone slopes down – from upper left to lower left of center — under the chalk that covers it — on the right (east) side of the image.

The limestone is characteristic of the Hill Country area, while the chalk is characteristic of the wilderness east of the watershed.  This picture was taken during the dry season.  For a view of this area in the winter Click Here.
